The Lenape Valley Basketball Scholarship Fund Tournament was founded in 1998. The original purpose of this scholarship fund was to support children who have experienced the catastrophic loss of a parent and needed help in obtaining a college education. As the program has grown, scholarship eligibility has expanded to include students making significant achievements in academics and community service. As the children progress through college, we continue to contribute money each year to help them continue their college education.
To date, through the generousness of our supporters, sponsors and players we have raised over $75,000 toward the college education of children within our community!
For the first 7 years, the tournament was held at Unami Middle School and has seen continual growth in both the involvement of the local business community donating it’s time and resources and the continual expansion of the tournament itself, necessitating moving the tournament to a larger venue.
We are now entering our 10th year of the tournament at the beautiful new gyms of Central Bucks South High School. The tournament has grown to a new level of participation with the addition of a Futures Division three years ago. We now have 300-400 children ages 7 to 18 years old playing each year. This tournament has turned into a “can’t miss” event for children of all grades throughout our community.
